2024 Crop Insurance Industry Outstanding Outreach Award

Congratulations to Jaime Cortes of Marsh McClennan on receiving the 2024 Crop Insurance Industry Outstanding Outreach Award. The Outstanding Outreach award recognizes an individual who provides outstanding service to all farmers, including outreach to small, limited resource and socially disadvantaged farmers.

Jaime has focused his time educating producers and ranchers on the benefits provided by the Rainfall Index and livestock programs. He recognized that many tribe members throughout the Pacific Northwest were raising cattle and had enormous risks that could be managed utilizing PRF and livestock programs. He took it upon himself to attend a Northwest Intertribal Council (IAC) meeting to better understand the risks Native agriculture producers face. Jaime was able to meet with several members of the Northwest IAC to provide them with information about the risk management solutions available to producers and ranchers, with one attendee remarking that he was the first person in 20 years to discuss crop insurance with this group. He has made it his continuing goal to educate Native agriculture producers on the tools available to them.
