On November 1, 2002, The National FFA Organization (FFA) announced Brett Ray Reiss of Plains, Kansas, the national winner of the National FFA Proficiency Award in Diversified Crop Production - Placement. The proficiency awards recognize outstanding student achievement in agribusiness gained through establishment of a new business, working for an existing company or otherwise gaining hands-on career experience.
Reiss, a member of the Southwestern Heights FFA Chapter, became eligible for the national award after winning the Kansas state FFA competition earlier this year.
